The woman struggled for six years to become pregnant until she finally did. She was thrilled to hear the news and chose to tell her partner on his 30th birthday. But his surprising reply left her dumbfounded.
After ten years of dating, the 26-year-old woman and her partner had talked about starting a family. After she posted her experience on Reddit, the internet community criticized her spouse and expressed their concerns in the comments. A month later, she updated Redditors on her meeting with him.
The Original Poster (OP) had been experiencing health issues for a few days, but she was unable to visit a doctor due to her demanding job schedule. She couldn’t help but think of her boyfriend’s celebration when she finally made it to her doctor’s appointment on his birthday morning. The doctor checked her vital signs and asked several questions before revealing that she was expecting.
After years of trying, she was thrilled to finally receive the news, but she kept it to herself until she got home, believing it would be the perfect surprise for her husband. However, upon her return, her partner was engrossed in a discussion with one of her acquaintances. In an attempt to get some solitude, she took him away to break the news, but he ignored her.
Despite his request that she wait, she couldn’t contain her excitement and announced her pregnancy to everyone. He responded violently, telling her that was supposed to be about him and accusing her of ruining his day, which shocked her.
The person revealed on Reddit how her spouse ended their relationship and then came back, claiming another woman, ten days later. Amazingly, he offered her everything to get her to terminate their child, but she refused his offer. He gave her a two-week notice to find a new place to live.
In the person’s opinion, “marriage was something people needed to prove their love,” therefore her spouse had no interest in being married. Since college was several hours away from their home, she said he had prevented her from enrolling.
Although many around her found this insight disturbing, she continued, saying that the experience had taught her to speak up for herself instead of posing as a “doormat” for others to walk over. The speaker went on, “Some people have said that I’ve changed from the ‘lovely innocent’ person they knew before this whole thing happened.”
Most Redditors sympathized with OP and thought her partner was to fault. They believed he didn’t need to act as though he desired a kid with her.
