Actress Sally Field rose to fame in the film industry after beginning her illustrious 50-year career as the boyishly romantic surfer girl on the sitcom Gidget.
In addition to her two Academy Awards for Norma Rae and Places in the Heart, Field has won three Primetime Emmys, two Golden Globes, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and several other notable honors.
Throughout her career, Field collaborated with some of Hollywood’s biggest names and appeared in movies that are still regarded as classics.
In 2014, she was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“If the mothers ruled the world, there would be no goddamn wars in the first place,” declared actress and mother of three Field during her acceptance speech at the 2007 Emmy Awards, when she was honored for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
Field had two marriages over her lifetime. In 1968, she was married to Steven Craig, her first husband. Five years later, they got divorced, although it wasn’t official until 1975. Field’s kids from that marriage are filmmaker and author Peter Craig and actor Eli Craig, who is best known for helming the beloved horror comedy Tucker & Dale vs Evil.
Field began dating Burt Reynolds in 1976. They costarred in four different movies together while they were dating: Hooper, The End, Smokey and the Bandit II, and Smokey and the Bandit. After calling it quits, they had intermittent relationships until 1982.
Alan Greisman is Field’s son from her marriage to her second husband, with whom she lived until 1994.
Field, who turns 76 this year, has always been regarded as an incredibly attractive woman, but it’s clear from looking at old pictures of her that she has changed. That does not, however, imply that she is less appealing now.
Field definitely defies age.
