Like the day last summer that Malissa Sergent Lewis decided to take a different route to work.

One morning in the summer of 2016, Malissa Sergent Lewis was running late for work at her Kentucky elementary school.
Malissa chose to take a side route rather than the major highway since she wanted to arrive sooner.

That day, the only item missing from the road was a trash bag.
But this wasn’t just any average garbage bag—it seemed to have life of its own.
“Did I just witness the trash bag move?” As I walked by this trash bag, I asked myself. Malissa approached The Dodo and stated, “I could see it was moving as I got closer.”

Malissa felt compelled to open the sack and see what was within.
Unaware of what was inside, she warily approached the bag after getting out of the car.
Malissa understood that whatever was within did not simply happen to be up there because the bag was twisted.
Malissa carefully ripped away the bag’s corner to have a look inside.
What was within was even more astounding.
It was a young dog. He was really happy to see me, too. When I cracked it open and he spotted light, he immediately began to wag his tail. It was unbelievable to me,” Malissa said to The Dodo.
After being placed in a trash bag, the puppy was discovered in the middle of the road. It would have been too long, even if the little child had just been in there for a second.
Although wearing a collar, the puppy lacked identification tags.
Malissa drove the dog to class with her since she couldn’t bear to leave him behind.

Malissa’s son eventually returned the dog to her house. He then took Malissa and the puppy to the vet so they could get it examined and vaccinated.
It’s unclear how the puppy got inside the bag by the side of the road.
Malissa called animal control because she was afraid the dog might be taken or left behind.
However, the dog was not reported lost and no one came forward to claim it.
Fortunately, Malissa and her family have adopted the puppy, so he will receive the love and attention he requires. But she can’t think of somebody who would carry out such a terrible ac
Who could do such a thing to an animal? Everybody, regardless of identity, owns a puppy. “Putting an animal, any animal, in a garbage bag and dumping it on the side of the road is a real coldhearted person,” Malissa said to The Dodo.
