Mark Benton was buying an old farm to demolish. The primary source of his fascination was the land. The man had the idea to look inside the barn that was built on the outskirts even before construction started.

The gates creaked open and Mark was shocked to see one of the most expensive cars ever made, built in 1959. This year marked the unexpected launch of the Mark 2 car for Jaguar. The company wanted to draw in more clients.

With the engine from the Jaguar XK sports car installed, the Jaguar Mark 2 was among the fastest vehicles on the road at the time. The designers combined a powerful engine with an eye-catching and iconic exterior.

While some sedans were sold, most of them remained in England, where they were originally manufactured. Because of this, Mark was shocked to find one of the rare Jaguars on a long-abandoned farm in Iowa—a region that even its own residents consider to be relatively isolated from major cultural centers. It is extremely well-preserved, especially considering the car spent decades being stored in a wooden shed.

In the glove compartment, documents showing that the vehicle was last registered in 1983 were also found. The car will be put up for auction. The buyer expects a minimum of several hundred thousand dollars in compensation.
