If your childhood home was anything like mine, you surely have your own carefully curated assortment of favorite Christmas songs.
My parents loved traditional Christmas music, so Mariah Carey and Wham! were off limits. I will always have a particular place in my heart for those songs that have endured the test of time and bring back happy memories every time they’re played.
That’s perhaps why, the first time I heard Carrie Underwood and her child sing a beautiful duet of The Little Drummer Boy, I burst into tears inside.
I think we can all agree that The Little Drummer Boy is a timeless melody.
The lyrics of the song, as it is now known, are said to have been influenced by a traditional Czech hymn, however Katherine K. Davis is credited with writing the song in 1941.
Like any other well-known Christmas carol, it has benefited from many interpretations throughout the years, including renditions by Bing Crosby, Johnny Cash, and even Justin Bieber.
You’re sure to find something you like in every version of this well-known musical song, even though everyone has a different preference. There’s a reason it’s considered a true classic, after all.
I cannot, however, deny that I was struck by a really happy emotion when I first heard Carrie Underwood’s 2020 song, which she recorded with her then-5-year-old son Isaiah.
Carrie Underwood is a country music icon who has repeatedly enthralled and captured listeners throughout the years, for those who are unaware—which we hope are few.

When she revealed in 2020 that she would be releasing an album around Christmas, everyone’s favorite holiday, her followers were overjoyed.
The CD in question combined popular Christmas music with Carrie’s unique tracks in a seductive mix. But, at least in my opinion, the eleventh song—you got it—The Little Drummer Boy—stands out.
The famous vocals were provided by Carrie’s son Isaiah, who also made an appearance in a beautiful duet. and did it quite well.
