Steve Irwin’s Wife Reveals Heartbreaking Secret About Her Late Husband

Nearly a decade has passed since the world lost Steve Irwin, popularly referred to as “The Crocodile Hunter.” Many were shocked and in sadness at his premature death at such a young age. Recently, his wife Terri Irwin revealed a devastating secret and talked about his passing in an appearance for the Australian television program “Anh’s Brush With Fame.”

Terri, who is currently 53 years old, appeared on the program to advocate for herself as a fighter against culling. But her late husband soon came up in discussion. She talked tearfully about Steve’s constant feeling that his life would end too soon. Terri disclosed, “He never thought he’d have a long life.” That Steve’s premonition was correct is a devastating reality.

Steve was filming “Ocean’s Deadliest” in Queensland, Australia, on that fateful day in 2006 when a stingray punctured his chest with its barb. When Terri had to inform their two children, Robert and Bindi, about the tragedy, she was overcome with anguish, as she well recalls. “I just remember this incredible sense of responsibility…’what do I do next?’… which was really hard,” the speaker recounts.

Terri last saw her husband, the guy she loved so much, waving good-bye as she and the kids took out for Tasmania. She had no idea that it would be their last goodbye. Even after 11 years, she is still greatly affected by her grief over Steve’s passing. “Everyday it’s difficult… the grief goes from being a rock in your heart to walking beside you,” Terri sobs.

Terri admits that she is thankful to have had her “happily ever after” with Steve despite the extreme sadness. She acknowledges that she still thinks about him all the time. Everyone who knew Steve was shocked to learn of his passing, and Terri thinks that even he would have been taken aback by the outpouring of sympathy and affection from people all around the world.

Steve’s humility and groundedness contributed to his immense popularity. Terri is proud that he never let fame get to him. “Steve never considered himself to be famous,” she recalls. She is pleased with their commitment to wildlife conservation and their ongoing efforts to uphold Steve’s amazing legacy.

Although Terri, Bindi, and Robert will always be in pain over Steve’s passing, they are dedicated to keeping his passion for animals alive. Like their father, they have grown to be ardent wildlife enthusiasts themselves. We can find solace in the knowledge that Steve Irwin’s family is upholding his legacy and making sure that his contributions inspire future generations as the world considers his life and the influence he had.
